November 25 Well, it's been a while. Eight-song CD is due out in early 2008. Details to come later.
July 5 I've been busy. Lots of ch-ch-ch-ch-changes. Alas, Dave has left our merry trio. We were actually a foursome for a while after Beat Zenerino, a fabulous drummer, started performing with us in April. We performed at the Sweet Auburn Festival in Atlanta in May, which was very, uh, memorable. Especially the Booty-licious fashion show - see photo above. So we're in a state of transition and we'll probably be performing as the Sonic Lime Pilgrims from now on. We may be coming back to Atlanta in the fall.
December 29 Merry Christmas to all! I'm scheduling shows for the new year and hope to be playing at the Bluebird in Nashville and take a trip to New York in March. I'm receiving an ASCAPLUS award in January which is very much appreciated. Have a Happy New Year and I hope to see you in person in the coming year.
October 4 Hey! My new CD, Joy + Pain, is almost finished! I'm hoping to officially release it on November 1 (OOOOOO, All Saints Day). There are six songs on it: Bang the Drum (a lighthearted song about invading other countries), Break Free (written during the 2004 Presidential elections), Joy (just a song about being grateful), You Are My Pain (a ballad), Sunrise (a morning prayer) and Peter Gabriel's In Your Eyes (Yea, I got permission to record it! I should have recorded No Self-Control but that's another story). We'll be performing Saturday, October 22 at Caffeine as part of the Indiegrrl National Tour. C-ya there.
July 22 This summer I've been reading A Spiritual Field Guide by Bernard Brady and Mark Neuzil. One of my favorite readings so far is from Mother Teresa: We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature - trees, flowers, grass - grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence...The more we receive in silent prayer, the more we can give in our active life. We need silence.
May 26 Summer is here and I will be leaving soon in the Dodge Ram (with a Hemi) for North Carolina and Virginia for some shows. I'm going to try to hit Memphis later this summer. We also have another show lined up at Caffeine in Nashville on July 20 @ 7pm. Be back soon with lots of photos and stories!
March 27 Happy Easter! I just returned from Atlanta where I played a few shows with my brother, Patrick. One was at Eddie's Attic and there's a photo above. I found out last week that "Dwell in My Love" in on DiscoverRadio.com and that my songs can now be downloaded on MusicNet. Our next show is @ Caffeine, April 19 @ 7pm.
February 13 Three news items from this week: 1) I received my writers membership card from ASCAP (I'm almost famous!); 2) I'm booked to perform in Wilmington, NC in June on an Indiegrrl showcase. A big thanks to Vicki Blankenship for setting me up on that show. I've added her website to my links page (Spotted Kiva Productions); and 3) the days are getting longer!!!
January 16 Hey! I think my New Year's resolution will be to stop complaining about the cold weather - or anything for that matter - when there's tsunamis and floods in the world. Well, Sarah is "housestitting" in Naples, Florida for the month - nice gig! Dave and I are working on new songs. I'm considering releasing "You Are My Pain" as a single since we've had such a good response to that song. Just a quick update: Not only did Scott from WSHO play "Lord Hear My Prayer" he also put it on the daily rotation and put my CD on the home page of his website - www.alternativechrisitanmusic.com. In addition, "Dwell in my Love" was played 1-12-05 on NetteRadio.com. Thanks Annette! There may be an archive of the show but I couldn't find one yesterday. Oh! And I was also accepted as a performing member of Indiegrrl. I will be playing in Atlanta with my brother in late March - details to come - and I'm feverishly working to book gigs in Nashville, and for this summer in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Virginia. Bye!
December 15 Hey everybody! I'm taking some time off from playing to write some new songs and shop for Christmas. The weatherman is saying we may actually have a white Christmas here in Tennessee - wow! That doesn't happen very often. Some good news: I'm getting some airplay on WSHO in New Orleans thanks to Scott. Also, I received a good review online from the Phantom Tollbooth (see home page). I'll be back playing in the new year. Merry Christmas!
November 12 CD release Party @ Murphy's Loft - We had a great crowd again! David Petschulat and I started out with "Lord Hear My Prayer" and "Jesus Said" both from the new cd. Sarah Sisk and Dina Capitani then joined us with excellent harmonies for "Dwell in My Love" and "You Are My Pain." Since it was a cd release party, we had a drawing to give away a cd, a T-shirt or a box of Mini Moon Pies made with fat free marshmallows! Shockingly, no one took the Moon Pies so I got to keep them! We finished up the set with a new one "Break Free" on which Dave played bass while balancing a Chinese meditation ball on the strings (!?!?) making a neat race car sound and then "Joy." David and Dina both played sets afterwards. Thanks for coming out everybody!
October 12 New CD released through CDBABY.COM or download from the New Napster, Apple iTunes, Music Match and others starting November.
September 24 @ Murphy's Loft - Nashville, I played along with David Petschulat, Dina Capitani and Sarah Sisk. David opened with his ethereal instrumental Christmas songs and a rockin' version of "Baba O' Riley". I went on next playing "Lord Hear My Prayer" with David, then, joined by Dina and Sarah, played "Dwell in My Love" and two new songs "Joy" and "You Are My Pain." Next, Dina played a great set including a new, very sweet song about her grandmother. We had a great crowd - it was a lot of fun. I think we'll be playing at the Loft again soon.
